WHAT IS TMS THERAPY?
TMS treatment, often known as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in Texas, uses a magnetic pulse to stimulate portions of the brain linked with depressive symptoms. Originally developed in the 1980s, TMS therapy in Friendswood has been utilized for more than 35 years. In 2008, the US Food and Drug Administration approved TMS depression therapy as a non-drug, non-invasive treatment for depression in adults. In 2017, the FDA also approved TMS psychiatry clinic treatments for OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), and it is currently also used to help with smoking cessation.
DO YOU QUALIFY FOR TMS THERAPY?
If you have tried medications and talk therapy without sufficient relief for your depressive or anxiety symptoms, you may qualify for TMS therapy. Several insurance companies cover TMS therapy for patients with depression and OCD that have failed to respond to antidepressant medications and talk therapy.
